Today I’ve been out “sick” enjoying the MLB Extra Innings package on Cox. The Dodgers are already sticking it to Zito 4-0 in the 5th. Here’s to a good start and at least the Wildcard if not winning the NL West outright!
I did get a little run down after being one of the 115,300 at the Coliseum on Saturday. Blame part of that on voluntary dehydration (thanks Tecate) and the commute from Las Vegas. No complaints here; that was most memorable baseball games ever seen live. Of course, it was the event and the collective energy in the stands more than the game itself. The short fence in LF was just crazy, the non-stop wave, and characters in the stands all contributed to a great experience. Being in my late 20’s, I have vague memories of Gibby’s shot off the Eck and Orel’s scoreless inning streak. My memory is a bit better for the recent 4 homer game. Here’s to the Dodgers making more memories this year in this anniversary year.
Baseball season is always the best time of the year for me. Whether it’s the big club in LA, the 51s, or the 66ers, any team affiliated with the Dodgers works for me. Unfortunately I’ll be out of town for the first two games of the season (missing Thirsty Thursday and Russell’s bobblehead) but I look to tailgate and take in the fireworks Saturday night.
Check back for my report on the first 51s game of the season!
